Ellen Kemp

Office Manager / Medical Administrator

Mid-Canterbury born and raised, having only moved from Willowby to Methven!

After previously working at Methven House for 10 years, and next door doing Physiotherapy admin, I started at the Methven Medical Centre in 2001 as a very part-time Receptionist while my son was young.

I am very privileged to be a part of such an amazing team, gaining knowledge and experience over the last 20 years through the changing face of General Practice.

Outside of work I enjoy golf, gardening, and holidays on sandy beaches!

I was born in Methven but lived in Christchurch for 25 years before coming back to Methven. Happily married to the lovely Robert. We have 3 children and 6 grandchildren. 1 Dog and 2 Cats. I love my job at the MMC as a Receptionist for the last 8 years. I had always wanted to be a receptionist and like to think that in the course of a patient's visit to MMC I manage to put a smile on their face at a difficult time in their lives.

In my spare time, Robert and I do Cowboy Action Shooting, which has taken us to many interesting places. We have traveled around New Zealand to compete in competitions and to America twice to compete in the World Champs

I was raised on Banks Peninsula . My past employment has been a mixed bag of grill chef, cafe manager, vet nurse and now medical administrator which I have done for the past 5 years. I am mum to a 19 year old daughter and to our fur babies Millie the Gsp, Millie the Labrador - not a misprint, the name double up is absolutely a coincidence ! and Wuss, George, and Ruby our Cats. In my spare time, I love to go boating and fishing and exploring on the Polaris with my partner. I’m also not too bad at singing and I love to cook. Working at Methven Medical Centre has been my most enjoyable place to work and I’ve loved getting to know all of our patients and working with a great team of colleagues.

Receptionist / Administration

Born and raised in Methven, to a local farming family, until moving to Australia.

In Australia I completed a Bachelor of Business at James Cook University in Townsville, while working for the ANZ Bank.

My Husband and I moved back to Methven 10 years ago to be closer to my Dad.

I joined the team at the Methven Medical Centre 8 years ago in a part time capacity.

When not at work I can be found on the Bowling Green, which takes up a large amount of my spare time.

I enjoy living in Methven and being part of a smaller community and the involvement in that community that working at the Medical Centre allows me.

I moved from the North Island 2 years ago and I am loving living in the South Island.

I have worked in customer service roles for several years but this is my first time working in the medical industry. I enjoy working in customer service and find it very satisfying.

When I am not at work you will find me with my hands in the soil tending to my veggie garden.

I was born in Zambia, raised in South Africa, and immigrated to New Zealand in 2017 with my husband Dene and two daughters, Nicole &Sarah. I completed my National Diploma in Financial Accounting in 1993. Before joining the wonderful Methven Medical team last year in August as an administrator, I was a stay-at-home mum for 20 years, where we had the privilege of living on a private game farm in Kwa-Zulu Natal, South Africa, rejoining the working world in 2017 at Wellington Chartered Accounting firm before moving to Canterbury in 2018. When not working, I spend time with my husband and girls exploring our new home or relaxing with our three cats, reading or painting.
